Dundee: A City in Transition II
A photographic book focusing on the divided opinions on Dundee’s waterfront development.
The project acts as a continuation of Joseph McKenzie’s ‘Dundee: A City in Transition’, a project that documented the controversial construction of the Tay Road Bridge in 1966, with some suggesting the city was losing its architectural heritage. The current waterfront is creating a similar divide of opinions as some feel the money being spent on it could be put to better use, such as improving the city’s poverty.
Drawing parallels between both periods, I used similar techniques as McKenzie - capturing a mix of landscape, people and opinions throughout the city, whilst reflecting the construction work on the waterfront through layout frameworks.
